Week 5

Week Five:

This week our group visited our site for the project. We got many good pictures of the site and we were able to come up with different ideas for what we could do to the site. It was nice to be able to visualize what we wanted to do. From there we worked at the site to split up the work that needed to be done for the final project.

It was shocking to see the site. The road has a pretty decent incline so all of the water runs to the bottom of the street. There are only three drains and two of them are at the bottom of the street. The two drains at the bottom are filled with trash and other debris. The amount of water that actually drains through must be very small. Below I have attached pictures of these drains.

We have completed the calculations that we needed, the base plan, and we are currently working on the drainage area map, the proposed design plan, and the profiles of each system. The work has been going well ever since we figured out how to use Sketch-up.

As a team we have been working well, we find it best to each work on a part individually and then we come together to seek help or ask any questions we have. So far, the project has been a great experience for learning real life engineering skills.
