Week 3

Week Three Progress:

This week we learned about finding the area of our location, finding the amount of storm water that would be a concern in this area, and finding the incline of the selected area. We talked about how we would want the ground underneath our GSI to absorb the water, and we found that the soil around our tree trenches might be enough. If the soil is not good in this area we have the option of adding different soil to this area that would allow more water to be absorbed.

Our team accomplished a lot this week, we were able to learn how to use Google Earth and Sketchup to aid us in completing our map of Ludlow Street. We researched the materials that we would want to use for this project. Also the topography of this area was calculated and looked at.

We received the equation for calculating the size of a cite. This week we worked on drawing the site on paper. We used GoogleEarth to find the area of our site. We then converted the area to feet and then found the total volume that would result from 1.5" of rainfall. Below is a picture of our work.
